Should I appeal my citation for an open container?

I am located in Machusetts, i know different states have different laws but here is what happened, me and my buddy were hanging out in his house having a few beers, our friend pulled into the driveway and we went out to greet him, no more than 3 minutes later a "Community Police" car pulled into the lot, not a real cop a "Community Policeman". He didn't give a reason as to why he pulled in he just did and immediately got out and approached us. I had a beer in my hand at the time, I am 22 years old. I was given a $100 fine for the incident and the only one to get in trouble, I want to appeal because there was no disturbance and no reason for the "Community" officer to be there, also i was on my property at the time its not like i was in a car or walking down the road. I want some opinions on this can someone help me out?
