Where can I find information for my history report?

I'm studying the life of Dorothea Dix and I am having trouble finding good online resources. It is recommended that the primary source material listed at the end of each paper be read and used for any academic endeavor." but I can't get a hold of any of the books referenced and they are all extremely long so I don't know if I can cite this information. Can anyone else help me find good info? Thanks
