Swollen thyroid?

my step-daughters thyroid is swollen & her white blood count is 16,400 there are no goiders, she has leakage from her & constant yeast infections,,,,she's been to the emergency room once and the doctor 4 times in the last 4 weeks & the ear,nose & throat doctor today, & they want her to see an endecronologist but they can't get her in until the middle of may, does anyone know what would be going on in this 16 year olds body?
