Red and Blue flashing star in Georgia?

Most nights but not every night I see a pulsating star flashing from red to blue to my west. Honestly, I'm not even sure it is a star....its definitely not a helicopter or a jet because I've watched it over a period of an hour.Ohh and it has mysteriously disapperared several times.....what is it and has anyone else experienced this?
