What is more important to top colleges- volunteer hours or work experience?

Well - it won't matter to any college what you do with your time - either work or volunteer at a hospital - they're only interested in finding out if you can handle the work load. Unless you're going for a a Basketball Grant - they won't think much of you spending that much time improving your body.
